Start with your routines
Walk through the floor plan room by room. Think about arriving home, which lights you use at night and what should happen when you leave. If you want to lower the blinds and turn off several lights from bed, note where you would trigger that scene and what should still work from the regular wall controls.
Coordinate the plan before walls are closed
Mark the lights, wall controls, motorised curtains and climate zones you want to control. Review cable routes and equipment locations with the construction team. Allow access for maintenance, especially above suspended ceilings and inside cabinets.
Separate installation from fine-tuning
Decide early on cable routes, wall boxes and equipment space. Schedules, lighting levels and scene names can be fine-tuned once you start using the house. Before handover, test a typical routine, such as arriving home at night, and ask for a copy of the system documentation.
